Scroll
A bookshelf for your best ideas
The Problem
"Why do we have social networks optimised for photographs of lunch and drive-by opinions, but nothing—genuinely nothing good—for the ideas that actually change how we think?"
People forget the best ideas they read. Book discussions are scattered across platforms. Discovery is noisy, recommendations lack clear reasons, and there's no way to tell who's actually read the book from who's just seen the summary.
The attention economy prefers content that can be consumed in three seconds and forgotten in four. A quote from Marcus Aurelius does not pair well with an advertisement for teeth-whitening strips.
The Vision
Scroll is a social network for sharing memorable quotes and lessons from books and longform journalism. A never-ending book club where ideas circulate, where you can see what a passage meant to someone else, where the best insights rise to the top.
The name is deliberate. "We're reclaiming the word. A scroll used to be a vessel for knowledge. We'd like it to be one again."
The Experience
How It Works
1. Post a Quote
Share a passage that resonated — from a book, The New Yorker, The Economist, Harvard Business Review.
2. AI Identifies the Source
Paste a quote, and AI identifies the book or article. Provides "the most excellent bits" — key themes, memorable passages, ideas worth carrying forward. Spoiler-safe by default.
3. Join the Community
Your post routes into a community of others who've engaged with the same text. See the most upvoted quotes and lessons. Discover similar works with explained recommendations.
4. Earn Credibility
Link to Goodreads to prove you've read the book. Authors get verified badges. Impact badges based on upvotes. A meritocracy of insight.
The Philosophy
"If you spend twenty minutes on Scroll and come away with one idea that genuinely changes how you see something, that's a success. If you spend three hours on another platform and can't remember a single thing you saw, that's a failure."
Scroll is building a "high-signal environment" — optimised not for engagement, but for the quality of what you take away. The goal isn't to capture your attention, but to enrich it.
